It all begins with the berries! Native 32 Winery started as a field of Aronia berry bushes planted in 2011 with a dream of becoming more. What was the more? It was wine! Native 32 Winery started its winemaking journey as a hobby; a dream of two brothers taking what they had in front of them and making it into something that can be shared with others. Something to be passed onto future generations. Aronia bushes are native to the upper mid-western states and thrive in the heart of northeastern Nebraska’s climate and soils. Our bushes are sustained with all-natural practices, in turn, making our orchards favorable for a more desirable product. Our selections include our original Aronia berry wine. This unique flavor is where it all begins. We then incorporated this distinct flavor with other rich, fruit blends, which give us our current wine selection. Our vineyards are nestled in the scenic Niobrara River Valley on a working cattle ranch in the Sandhills near Nenzel, NE. The vineyard began in 2002 with just four varieties of grapes and 200 plants to see if they would grow here. The Sandhills are known for producing some of the best beef in the world, but what about grapes? We have found that the Sandhills can also produce great tasting, handcrafted and award-winning wines. The hot days and cool nights of our summers, the soils and the variable weather conditions, all come together to bring out the complex fruity flavors that have people exclaiming they are ‘PLEASANTLY SURPRISED’ to find such amazing wines in the Sandhills! Our wines can be found in several retail locations throughout Nebraska, with a list of locations available on our website. From its award-winning wines to its spectacular views, Nissen Winery is one youíre sure to enjoy. Located on a National Scenic Byway ñ The Outlaw Trail ñ in Northern Cedar County, it is one of Nebraskaís hidden gems. Not only are there great wines to sample, but you can hear stories of the historical and famous outlaws who once lived and roamed the area in the late 1800s. Relax, sip wine and read old newspaper articles that tell stories of the outlaws from Doc Middleton, to Jesse James, and learn of the lifestyle of the corrupt and famous outlaws who called Nebraska home. The white wines range from a sweet, soft, smooth wine called St. Pepin, to a crisp, refreshing, fruit-forward dry named Reserve White. Sweet reds, such as Jesse James, a very popular one which touts Bing cherry overtones, is one of several sweet reds and blushes youíll want to sample before choosing your favorite. The dry reds include Reserve Red, made from Frontenac grapes and aged in French oak, as well as Sam Bass, an off-dry wine with great tannins and mouth feel. Old Cellar Vines & Wines is located on the north side of Arapahoe. The first grapevine was planted in 2010 and has now expanded to 20 acres with 8 different varieties. Old Cellar Vineyard strives to grow quality grapes for their customer wineries and has sold their grapes to 11 different wineries in the state of Nebraska. In 2022 the tasting room was opened to bring back wines crafted with Old Cellar’s grapes from customer wineries.
